Itineraries

Thanks to its central position, to its closeness to Giglio, Giannutri and Elba islands and to Argentario, to the richness of the Tuscan hinterland, Talamone is an exclusive destination but also a good starting point for excursions and visits to the beauty of Tuscany.

Image Natural Park of Maremma (km.2) It can not be missed a trip to the Natural Park of Maremma for who stay at Talamone. Near the Podere Caprarecce, 2 km from Talamone, you can find the entrance to three routes, T1, T2 and T3. The short route presents no difficulty, those long could be difficult but certainly all efforts would be offset by fabulous landscapes. The wonderful Mediterranean vegetation and beautiful landscapes that open on the coast, are unique. So you should not forget your camera!

Image Magliano in Tuscany (km 21) The historic town is surrounded by the ancient walls of Siena, but also by green olives. Backed on the hills of the Maremma, you'll enjoy the view over the sea where it is possible to discern the Argentario with its "tomboli". It will be a pleasure to take a walk along the walls, through the alleys, where every corner tells about the past history: the Door of St. John, before the domination of Siena, the palace of "Checco il Bello" and the Palace of "Priori" in Garibaldi street, the "Pieve of St. John the Baptis", dating from the Roman period, the various churches and the same walls of Siena.

Image Porto Santo Stefano (km 25) It's the main town on the promontory of Argentario Mountain. During the summer, you'll find a lot of musical, cultural and folkloric events, mainly outdoors. The mainly one is the traditional  “Palio marinaro dei 4 rioni” (Pilarella, Valle, and Fortezza e Croce), on 15 August.  And remember not to loose the visit to the archaeological museum of “Memorie Sommerse” ("Submerged Memories"), about finds discoverend in found in  the Tirreno sea.

Image Porto Ercole (km 29) It's the second town for importance in this area. It is located in the southern part of promontorio. During the Spanish domination,  a lot  of fortresses and towers were built  on the mountain Argentario and along the coast between Talamone and Ansedonia , to gain the control over the Tyrrhenian Sea. We suggest a visit to Forte Filippo and Forte Stella in Porto Ercole visit and a visit to the Church of Sant'Erasmo, where the ancient Spanish rulers were buried.

Image Roselle (km 34) Roselle is an Etruscan, Roman and medieval town, a few kilometres north of Grosseto. Roselle is known for the extended walls, a truly example of the outstanding defensive Etruscan architecture. In Roselle, it is possible to visit the remains of the original Etruscan town. The Roman re-used Etruscan built and walls. This condition makes Roselle, one of the most interesting archaeological sites in Tuscany. The place is worth a visit because it allows you to see the plant almost complete ancient city.
