This status allowed to keep the total environmental integrity and today it offers the opportunity to visitors to admire varieties of birds, by special shelters,. The lake is now a coastal salt pond, divided from the sea by a thin strip of land. In the reserve, you can meet all natural environments, typical of Maremma. |  | Capalbio (km 40) Capalbio is the last Touscany town, near to Lazio borders. Capalbio is a typical medieval small town with ancient traditions. We recommend a visit to WWF Burano Oasis(phone 0564 898829) and to the garden of “tarocchi” in Pescia Fiorentina, where it is possible to admire the evocative sculptures of Niki de Saint Phalle (phone 0564 895122) |  | Saturnia (km 57) The village of Saturnia is perched on a hill overlooking both the valley of “Terme” and Albegna. The town developes around the great Vittorio Veneto Square with the Church of Santa Maria Maddalena, Porta Romana and the district of “Bagnosecco” behind this. The district “Villaggio” and the Aurinia street, which is the access road into Saturnia, are in the opposite side. Very famous are the spas, which offer a 'water-mineral thermal sulphur dioxide, sulfate-bicarbonate-alkaline earthy "excellent for skin care , respiratory and locomotive system. |  | Pitigliano (km 63) Pitigliano is an historical town, located on a tuff rock and offers a surreal scene to the visitors. The Etruscan and then medieval origins, are remained intact over time. It is possible to visit the Archaeological Museum Outdoor, "Alberto Manzi, Orsini Palace Museum, the Museum of civilization Giubbonaia, the Archeological Museum, the Synagogue and the Hebrew Museum. Among the numerous traditional festivals, we recommend to participate to the striking "Torciata of St. Joseph " on 19 March. |  | Sovana (km 63) Sovana’s origins came back to Prehistoric time and the traces of the different civilization, are visible. One of the most particularly interesting thing are the Etruscan necropolis. A walk between the Cave street, ancient roads, can bring us in a world without time. We suggest to visit also the old town, with the Fortress, the church of Santa Maria, the square in the Praetorium palace and the cathedral of St. Peter. |
